Simple Summer Time Crafts

A Slice of Watermelon Craft

In the summer time, when the weather is fine...create some cool with our easy summer crafts and snacks! This watermelon paper plate craft is perfect for bulletin boards, displays and even invitations or greeting cards.

Bathtub Beach Fun
With a little help from fun foam and the bathtub, you can create some crazy sea creatures your kiddos will enjoy during bath time or in the back yard with the sprinklers full blast.

Tuesday Recipe: Banana Boat Snack

Each Tuesday we'll bring you a tasty recipe or craft recipe to make with your kids!

This week's recipe is...

Banana Boat Snack

banana
peanut butter
raisins
wooden skewer or toothpick
construction paper

Slice a small piece off the bottom of a banana and lay it on a plate so that the bottom you cut off is flat and touching the plate and the "ends" of the banana are pointing up. Spread peanut butter on the top of the banana, and then place raisins on the peanut butter. (These are the sailors). Make a small triangular flag from construction paper and write "S.S. ________ (your child's name)" on it, thread it through a wooden skewer or toothpick, and stick the skewer into the banana. Tip: You may also want to pour some chocolate syrup around the "boat" to create "water".

Each Tuesday we'll bring you a tasty recipe or craft recipe to make with your kids!

This week's recipe is...

Fruity Putty

0.3 -ounce package of sugar free fruit flavored gelatin
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 tablespoons cream of tartar
2 cups boiling water
2 tablespoons cooking oil

Mix the dry ingredients in a pan. Add the boiling water and cooking oil. Stir over medium-high heat until the mixture forms a ball. Place the ball on waxed paper to cool. Store in an airtight container. Cut the fruit picture from the gelatin box and paste to the lid. Use different flavors to make all different colors and smells.
